Delivery model:
鈥 Work-based training with your employer
鈥 Eleven weeks of block release throughout the year, plus induction/revision days
鈥 On-site visits every other month throughout the apprenticeship
鈥 Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English (7 days at college for each, if required)
鈥 Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice鈥檚 time at work

鈥 Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths
鈥 Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship
End Point Assessment:
鈥 Multiple choice knowledge test
鈥 Practical assessment
鈥 Professional discussion based on a portfolio of evidence and short research assignment
A property maintenance operative will use their knowledge and understanding of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and decorating to;
鈥 Understand and demonstrate the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace
鈥 Comply with organisational safety, policies and procedures and identify and reduce hazards
鈥 Consider safety compliance with a diverse sector of client groups
鈥 Understand and demonstrate the importance of working safely at height
鈥 Carry out repairs to the fabric of a building, for example repairs to walls, doors, doorframes,
skirting boards or plaster damage to internal walls
鈥 Understand and maintain plumbing and drainage systems, for example repairs to WC systems,
leaking taps or water testing and unblocking drains
鈥 Maintain high levels of water hygiene within a building
鈥 Understand and maintain electrical distribution, safe repair of electrical installation to legal
requirements, for example replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses.
鈥 Understand and maintain plant, safety systems and equipment
鈥 Demonstrate and implement energy, environment and sustainable practices
鈥 Understand and maintain grounds and external fabrication of a building, such as guttering
鈥 Understand and demonstrate the safe use of hand tools, for example screwdrivers, power drills, pliers, paper strippers and a variety of other tools used in plumbing and carpentry
Demonstrate and understand the importance of the control of resources and stock
鈥 Understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance
鈥 Understand how to prepare for refurbishment or deep clean of equipment and surfaces
鈥 Carry out repairs and reactive maintenance
鈥 Record and report information accurately either internally or externally
have funds available.
