Pathways students head to Table Cricket regional finals following county competition win.

24th Apr 2024

We鈥檙e wishing our Pathways students the best of luck as they compete in the Lord鈥檚 Taverners Table Cricket regional finals, following their county competition win.

Today our Pathways students are heading to Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury for the London and Thames Valley regional finals of the Lord鈥檚 Taverners Table Cricket competition.

Lord鈥檚 Taverners is a charity which empowers young people living with disabilities or from disadvantaged communities through cricket; helping them to develop their knowledge, skills, capabilities, and confidence to overcome the challenges of inequality, raising their aspirations and enabling them to reach their full potential.

一起草官网鈥檚 Pathways provision has been involved with the Lord鈥檚 Taverners Cricket Competition for several years, with the Abingdon team previously reaching both the Oxfordshire and regional finals. This year, our Pathways students have surpassed their record, winning the Oxfordshire Tournament against Henley College by 92 runs!

鈥淭able cricket gives students with SEND needs an opportunity to take part in sport, and to compete with other schools and colleges. It helps build self-confidence, teamwork skills, social skills, cognitive and co-ordination skills, and there are further opportunities to volunteer in coaching and umpiring which a few of our students have gone on to do.鈥 鈥 Kathryn Schutterlin 鈥 Pathways Curriculum Manager

Best of luck to all our Pathways students heading to the regional final and congratulations again on your county win!
